There’s is no cozier place to be than in a sauna in the winter. That’s something most sauna users can agree on. However there is no end to people making a good thing even better. In Ylläs in far northern Finland you can sauna to the top of the slopes. 150 km north of the arctic circle people can beat the cold riding the 2 km to the top of Ylläs in a wood lined sauna. This experience is not to simply reach the top and ski down however. The sauna experience begins in the evening when the skiing has finished and the sauna gondola cruises in a loop up and down the mountain. This allows people to take in the views and even watch the gondola’s TV in style. Awaiting at the top of the mountain is a jacuzzi, allowing outdoor relaxation in even sub zero temperatures.
This luxury is not cheap however. The cost is EUR 1350 for a maximum of 12 people for 2 hours of round trips. However the sauna gondola only fits 4 people at a time so the rest of the party must enjoy the jacuzzi, fireplaces, and showers included at the top of the mountain while they wait.
