Gwenyth Paltrow Raises the Heat on Sauna
There are few people more infamous on the alternative health scene than Gwenyth Paltrow. Her website GOOP has posted some pretty far-out health suggestions (that Jade egg thing for one), but few people have as much influence power as she does. That’s why when she recently posted the below picture of herself in her sauna the internet went a bit nuts. You would have to admit anyone with her influencing power putting the spotlight on sauna is a good thing for mainstreaming the benefits of sauna use.
So what does Ms. Paltrow have to say about sauna aside from Instagramming about it? Well her website GOOP has written about sauna use in an article or two which you can read here. She has actually posted a fair bit on social media about her sauna use, most of her focus seems to be on the detoxing (which many argue is one of the more disputed benefits of sauna ignoring the other mounting evidence of other benefits).
“I have a little infrared sauna at my house that’s amazing. I try to do it three times a week—it’s a huge detoxifier and definitely a beauty trick. The lower the toxic load you’re carrying, the better you feel and the better you look.”
She is such a sauna fan that in a list of her travel tips she admits that th first thing she does after arriving is to get into a sauna.
“When I land, I try to find a sauna to sit in for 20 minutes to help me sweat out all the germs from the plane.”
