Kendal Jenner has been telling reporters about how excited she is to receive an infrared sauna from her sisters for her birthday.  “My birthday was this weekend and my sisters actually got me an infrared sauna,” she told reporters.  She expanded by explaining her interest in infrared saunas.  “It’s such cool technology with [the] different light settings that benefit the skin internally. I’m putting it in my backyard and am super excited to have it at my house.”  Compared to other Kardashian/Jenner birthday gifts (such as 1.4 million dollar black Ferrari) this is a gift that most people can afford for themselves.

Kendal Jenner is one of the biggest trendsetters in this modern era, so her high praise might mean that saunas become even more popular in North America on the heels of the latest research and championing by respected health researchers such as Rhonda Patrick or  celebrities like Jennifer Aniston.

How Infrared Saunas Work

Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas use carbon heaters that heat our bodies more efficiently and more comfortably.  The panels in an infrared sauna emit rays that heat the body 80% and the air 20%, to state it another way it is like being in the rays of the sun rather than in a hot tub.  The benefit is that less temperature is thought to be needed to be effective.
