“Seeing people enjoying the Northern Lights whilst relaxing in the sauna, or daring themselves to a dip in the arctic sea is such a rewarding feeling. To imagine that we built something that gives people a joyful escape, a little oasis in the middle of the town, is amazing!” – Kim Daniel Arthur
With a great view of the northern lights at night, this new floating sauna in Tromsø Norway is one to add to your bucket list when we call all freely travel and share sauna space again. A joint project between the companies Kebony (wood specialists), Pust (sauna specialists), and Etka (a furniture company). The sauna has been opened to the public and has proven itself a big hit already.
The design of the sauna is impressive in itself. It is fashioned from sustainable wood from Kebony. It includes an outdoor terrace with access to the chilly waters below for those wanting to take a dip. Kim Daniel Arthur (of Ekta) has expressed his enjoyment of the project: “Seeing people enjoying the Northern Lights whilst relaxing in the sauna, or daring themselves to a dip in the arctic sea is such a rewarding feeling. To imagine that we built something that gives people a joyful escape, a little oasis in the middle of the town, is amazing!”
Erik Stange Ankre (of Pust), agreed: “The public has really embraced the sauna and made it a part of their daily lives. People come at all hours of the day: either for a morning swim, a lunch time bath or a night time session as late as 10pm.”
Tromsø is known as one of the top places for tourists to witness the northern lights, but this sauna was designed with locals in mind as an everyday luxury for the people of Tromsø.
